LAKE OF THE WOODS

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I bring to wear?

A: In the summer you’ll want to bring a variety of clothes due to the unpredictable weather. In May and June, be sure to plan for sweatshirts and jackets on the fishing trip. In July and August, the water and weather as usually warmed up so shorts, t-shirts and swimsuits are the norm. However, it’s always a good idea to have pants and long-sleeves just in case. In the winter, our bombardier service to and from the fish-house is a heated rig, the fish house is pre-heated too. So all that is recommended for winter fishing is a jacket, hat, gloves and some warm boots.

Q: How many people fit on a 27’ charter launch?

A: Due to Coast Guard Regulations, we can fit 6 people plus a guide on each launch.

Q: Are there things to do in the area?

A: Of course! Contrary to popular belief, Lake of the Woods Area has many sites to see. In Baudette there are many specialty shops, restaurants, library and museum, we have a great city park and soon will have a skateboard park in town. Our 9-hole golf course is open all summer and is expanding to 18 holes in the upcoming year. Canoeing and Kayaking tours, the Pine to Prairie Birding Trail and Waters of the Dancing Sky scenic byway are all great adventures to take in when you visit Lake of the Woods. But no trip is complete without a stop to Willie Walleye Park for a picture by the Legendary Walleye.
